Lee Ell is a studio founded by Helmi Marie Langsepp. The studio focuses on experimental architecture, engaging with the prototyping of new systems and spaces (Melting Models), the spatialization of specific qualities (Newborn Gallery), existing environments (Space Choreography), and the origins of design (PhD research).

Bio

Helmi Marie studied sculpture and installation in the Department of Fine Arts at the Estonian Academy of Arts and later graduated from the Academy in Architecture and Urban Planning. After completing her studies, Helmi Marie practiced in Denmark at Studio MAP, founded by David Garcia (Associate Professor at the Royal Danish Academy School of Architecture), where she had the opportunity to work on architectural solutions in extreme environments. Upon returning to Estonia, Helmi Marie worked on architectural and exhibition projects at Studio b210 and prepared a restoration plan for the Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design at Vana Tallinn, a company focused on restoration.

Currently, Helmi Marie is an architect at Lee Ell, as well as a doctoral researcher at Tallinn University of Technology, where her research focuses on the agency of material, environment, production, and performance in the early stages of design. In addition, Helmi Marie is the founder and editor-in-chief of annual publication Space Choreography.
